PRESIDENTS PONDERINGS
Well it has been another busy month and activities are starting to become more intense as we approach the end of the calendar year.  October seems to have flown by and since my last pondering, I ,along with PE Phil Draber, have had the privilege of meeting then presenting the inaugural indigenous Mineral Resources – Melville Rotary teaching scholarship to Emma Passmore at the Scholarship presentation day at Edith Cowan University.

What a delightful breath of fresh air Emma was. A young lady from the Morowa region she was very positive and enthusiastic.  She is super keen to become a junior school teacher with a preference to the earlier years ( 1 & 2) and is hoping that she will have the opportunity to teach in the country areas of WA.  Emma’s mother was a teachers Education Assistant at Emma’s school so there is a background of learning and progressing. Even at this early stage in Emma’s educational qualifications she has been found as an important and sought after leader and a person important to her peers being selected as a monitor and welfare officer for other resident students at the Edith Cowan Campus.

Emma is the striving to complete as many subjects as she can fit in and is really looking forward to putting her theory into her first practical experience as a student teacher which is to occur in the near future. Emma was extremely grateful to the Melville Rotary  and Mineral Resources for giving her the opportunity of assistance by means of the scholarship.  We wish her well in her endeavours, along with her upcoming exams and look forward to hearing from her when she visits Melville Rotary club.
