Welcome to our three new members, Steve Carsons, Em Charlton and Wayne Marshall, who were inducted into the Rotary Club of Melville on Wednesday 23rd July, 2025. During the months of June and July we had some excellent guest speakers, including several thumbnails, Juan (JP) Salmon, Kareena Ballard, Graham Wheeler and Roger Marsh.
In addition, the first social event for the new Rotary year was dinner at the Pantano Bar, attended by twenty five of our members and partners, and owned by Javier and Juan, which was also a Vocational visit, as it is owned by two of our newest Rotarians, Juan and Javier.
In preparation for the new Rotary year, the Board has met on one occasion, and discussed their various wish lists for their projects for the year. Again I have asked that committee chairs identify how it meets the Rotary Club of Melville Four Strategic Goals, Making an Impact, Expanding our Reach, Enhancing Membership and Participation and Increasing our Adaptability.
These were presented at an Assembly to members on the 23rd July, along with a proposed budget, including the membership fees set for this coming year, with valuable comments and suggestions coming from members.
The Board then passed the budget at a following meeting, and will present the budget on Wednesday 13th August, 2025 for final ratification by club members.
The upcoming programme of speakers for the Monday meetings in August 2025 are as follows, and we hope to see as many as possible to hear the guest speakers.

David’s first contact with Rotary was in 1996, in Geraldton when he was invited to a meeting, and met five of his clients there who were member of Rotary. On his return to Perth, he joined the Rotary Club of Melville around 1996 as a member of the Rotary Club of Melville. He then moved to Geraldton and joined Rotary there. David spent a lot of years on the Youth committee and was very involved with the Leeuwin training ship.
In 2002 David moved to Melbourne for work, and was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Port Melbourne where he was secretary for five year, Sergeant and also involved in the local interact Club. David had moved back to Perth for family and health reasons, and had rejoined his friends at the Rotary Club of Melville.
David brought with him some different projects that had been successful in Melbourne. He was also co ordinating the Community Radio Open Day at Wireless Hill until he became too sick to continue.
Several club members attended his Memorial Service on Sunday 20th July, 2025. We will miss you, David.
On Wednesday Night three
intrepid Melville Rotarians braved the cold and joined another 30
members of the Melville Cockburn Chamber of commerce at the
Premises of EES Shipping in
Cockburn Central and enjoyed a great evening of good food drink and fellowship, whilst also
learning about the family run and owned business that celebrates
40 years in 2026.
