Murdoch University, supported by the Rotary Club of Melville and the Melville Cockburn Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), is seeking experienced business and community leaders to become mentors to Murdoch University students.

The Business Leaders to Students Mentoring Programme connects students with experienced professionals who can share practical knowledge, industry insight and lessons learned throughout their careers.

The programme is designed to help students develop confidence, career readiness, leadership capability and a better understanding of the professional world, while giving mentors an opportunity to pass their knowledge and experience on to the next generation.

What's Involved?

  • Nine-week mentoring journey
  • Six one-hour mentoring sessions
  • Programme runs from 9 October to 11 December 2026
  • First mentoring session and onboarding held face-to-face at Murdoch University
  • Sessions 2–5 can be conducted flexibly, in person or virtually
  • Final mentoring session and programme celebration held face-to-face at Murdoch University

Expressions of Interest are welcome from experienced:

  • Business owners
  • Professionals
  • Industry specialists
  • Experienced community and organisational leaders

You do not need to have been a mentor before. What matters is a willingness to share your experience, listen, encourage and help a student think through the opportunities and challenges ahead of them.

Melville Rotary's Involvement

Melville Rotary is working with Murdoch University and the Melville Cockburn Chamber of Commerce to help connect students with experienced people from across Perth's business, professional and community networks.

Rotary members have accumulated an extraordinary breadth of business, professional and community experience. This programme provides an opportunity not only for our own members to contribute, but also for Rotary to bring together suitable mentors from our wider networks and neighbouring Rotary clubs.
